I was contacted by p-didakt to develop a trailer for the module focused on how to recognize and fight online gender-based violence, as part of the "Digital Enquirer Kit" (DEK) project by the GIZ Human Rights Program. These interactive learning modules can be accessed for free on the atingi digital learning platform, aiming to empower learners with knowledge and skills to enhance their living conditions and make a positive impact in their communities.
Challenge:
The course caters specifically to women (including all those who identify as women), women in the public eye, marginalized groups, gender activists, and human rights defenders. It also aims to support individuals affected by online gender-based violence and those who wish to become allies and intervene safely. As a result, the target audience is diverse and the trailer intends to reach people worldwide.

Approach:
The Digital Enquire Kit series has a style guide that could be slightly modified for the video. It features a graphically abstract and cheerful 2D style, deviating slightly from the existing trailers to suit the specific theme.

During the kick-off meeting, we discussed the voiceover text, which was provided by GIZ and refined in collaboration with p-didakt, as well as the timeline. Following that, there was brainstorming and discussion with p-didakt regarding possible style, visual elements, and storyline.

Based on this, I created a mood board and storyboard with images and animation descriptions that complemented the voiceover. Once the storyboard was finalized with the flow and visual elements, I proceeded to create the individual illustrations and keyframes to determine the most effective combination of style and color.
Thanks to the thorough alignment during the storyboard phase, progress was swift, allowing me to create the initial animation with a synthesized voiceover. After a few adjustments, I fine-tuned the video using the provided final voiceover and added sound effects.

Upon video approval, I also created subtitles in five additional languages (Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili).
"We had the pleasure to work with Natalie for the first time and it was a fantastic experience. She understood the assignment completely, brought in her own creative ideas from the start and was always open-minded about collaboration on ideas. As well as being creative, Natalie is also extremely reliable and a kind-hearted person who is always a pleasure to work with. If you are looking for a great professional Motion Designer who is creative and effective in her work, we can only recommend hiring Natalie. Thank you for making our project complete."
